1. Our Commitment to Privacy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information ThaItalian collects, why, and how we protect it. It covers our app and our website, thaitalian.app.
2. Information We Collect
- Account info — your email address and password (handled securely by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see your password in plain text).
- Recipe data — the recipes you import or write, including any links, photos, or cookbook page images you submit so we can read them.
- Preferences — your language, unit system (Metric/US), and subscription status.
- Website statistics — on thaitalian.app only (never in the app or when you are signed in to your account), we count visits with cookie-free statistics: pages viewed, country, device type and referring site. No cookies are set, no IP address is stored, and we honor Do Not Track. Statistics are deleted after 24 months.
- Photos you choose to submit — only when you use Photo/screenshot import or Snap a cookbook, used solely to read that recipe.
We don't collect your payment card details — the App Store handles your subscription payment directly, and we only receive confirmation of your subscription status.
3. How We Use It
- To run the core service — reading, structuring, and syncing your recipe library.
- To power AI-assisted recipe reading, via OpenAI: only the specific page, link, or photo you asked us to import is sent, purely to extract the recipe's structure.
- To send service emails — password resets, receipts, and important account notices.
- To improve the app, using aggregate, non-identifying usage patterns.
4. Who We Share It With
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
- OpenAI — processes the specific page or image you submit, to read the recipe out of it.
- Apple's App Store — handles your subscription billing on iOS.
- Google Play Store — handles your subscription billing on Android.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Your Choices & Rights
- Export — export any recipe as a PDF, any time, right from the recipe screen.
- Correct — edit any field of any recipe, or your profile, directly in the app.
- Delete — email support@thaitalian.app to permanently delete your account and all associated data.
- Language — switch anytime under Settings → Language.
6. Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Once you request deletion, we remove it within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep certain records longer.
7. Children's Privacy
ThaItalian isn't directed at children under 13. If we learn a child under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest through our infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that happens, we rely on their own compliance safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Cookies & Analytics
Our website doesn't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising analytics. The app doesn't sell your data to advertisers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, notify you in the app.
